Mizkan Chirashi Sushi (instant sushi mix)
Before using the mix, you should purchase a bottle of pickeled ginger (shredded style).
Since the Package directions are written in Japanese, it's a bit tough to figure out how to prepare the mix. These are the directions for the Mizkan Chirashi Sushi that serves 4. The package will have the number 4 on it, and also the numbers 2,2. It means the packages are divided into two units in case you just want to make sushi for two people.
The package cover has a picture of a bowl of rice with all types of garnishment on top. It does not have any english writing on the package, since it is meant for japanese consumers. It tastes as good as sushi made from scratch. You can probably find it in japanese supermarkets.
This is the recipe for 4 people.
Cook 4 cups rice.
After rice is done cooking, wait 15 minutes.
Put the rice into a large plastic mixing bowl. Do not use metal because of the acid.
Empty the contents of all the packages (except nori) into the bowl, and mix together.
Use a fan to cool down the rice. Mix the rice while fanning.
After the rice has cooled, you may add tamago yaki, and pickeled ginger on top. Cut the tamago into very thin strips, about 1 inch long.
Cover the sushi with a damp towel, and leave it at room temperature until dinner. The leftovers should be placed in an airtight container, and stored in the refrigerator.
Just before serving, add the package of nori over the sushi. If you prefer, you may also add seafood, like the picture on the package (I prefer it without it).
